Enable the microphone and camera on the iPad and Chrome.
Enabling the Camera on Chrome
Note: Schools rostered via Clever® or ClassLink can disregard the camera instructions.
- Open the Chrome browser.
- Enter the Magpie Literacy URL into the web browser https://learn.magpie.org/logina

On the Magpie Login screen, select the Badge Login button:
- Select the Scan badge → button
- Select Allow or All on every visit if available
- Navigate back to the Magpie Login page.

Select the menu button on the top right of the screen next to the address bar:
- Select Settings, which will open a new tab
- Then select Privacy and Security from the Settings menu on the left side
- Select Site settings

If the learn.magpie.org subdomain is listed under the Recent activity list, then select that option.
- If this subdomain is not listed, select View permissions and data stored across sites instead.
- Select the magpie.org domain.
- Select learn.magpie.org
- Under the Permissions heading, set the permissions for Camera and Microphone to Allow.
- Then close the Settings tab and select the Magpie tab.
If the following prompt: Reload this page to apply your updated settings on this site with a Reload button is displayed (on the top of the page, below the address bar), then select the Reload button.
Enabling the Camera on iPad

- Restart the iPad device

Open the Safari browser
- Enter the Magpie Literacy URL into the web browser https://learn.magpie.org/login
- Click the menu button on the left side of the address bar:

Click the Website Settings menu option
- Click the ellipsis.
- Click Allow for the Camera, and then press Done (on the top right of the dialog).
- Then close the browser.

Next, test if the Magpie app is working as expected:
- Click the Magpie icon on the home screen or log in

On the Magpie Login screen, select the Badge Login button.
- Then select the Scan badge → button.
- If everything works correctly, the camera should automatically activate.
- If the camera doesn’t activate (and no access request dialog is shown), then the entire process will need to be repeated, starting with deleting the Magpie or bookmark, clearing the Safari cache and removing the Camera and Microphone settings for all apps using the iPad Settings app, and then turning the iPad off, before starting over at Step 1.
Enabling the Microphone for all games
- If using an iPad, we recommend Restart the iPad device.
