Magpie’s research to date shows that students in all subgroups make statistically significant learning gains in key early literacy skills when they use Magpie for more than 40 minutes per week.
Magpie’s K-2 tools are designed to be used independently by students. Students will progress through their grade level curriculum automatically, with review and scaffolding built in where they need it. Magpie tools free teachers up to work with students while trusting other students are getting the high-quality practice they need to build proficiency.
Ensure students are learning in Magpie 45-60 minutes each week |
The most important thing educators can do to support Magpie implementation is monitor your Magpie Usage weekly to ensure students get 45-60 min each week of high-quality independent practice with Magpie.
Magpie estimates that K-2 lessons may take ~15 minutes to complete on average, but this will vary by lesson and unit as well as by individual student depending on the scaffolding and support needed.
In addition to tracking the minutes students are learning with Magpie each week, educators can also see how many lessons students are completing in Magpie each week to ensure they are progressing on pace.
